Through the Municipal Court Advice Desk (MCAD), CARPLS assists pro se litigants in the areas of eviction, consumer/contract, and tort matters.?CARPLS is grateful to The Chicago Bar Foundation and the Circuit Court of Cook County for funding the Municipal Court Advice Desk.

At this year’s Golden Gavel fundraising gala, CARPLS proudly honored Staff Attorney Aleida Lozano Netzel with the inaugural Everyday Hero Award, sponsored by Pat Wrona. When asked how she felt receiving the recognition, Aleida laughed and said, “I just thought it was funny—like, what? I’m just doing my job. I work my little hours.” But anyone who knows Aleida knows she’s never been “just doing her job.” For over 31 years, she’s been a force for good—helping clients, mentoring colleagues, and shaping CARPLS from its earliest days. ? Josh Niewoehner, one of our CARPLS attorneys, has been visiting correctional centers to share vital information about the expungement and sealing process with those preparing to reenter society. His work is helping individuals better understand their rights and the resources available to them.
